Abstract

In automotive vehicles, a bumper beam is a front and the rear portion of the vehicle which undergoes maximum damage during impact. It is a key component in terms of aspect in an automobile, ensuring minimum impact transfer to the rest of the vehicle. In this paper, we are going to study deflection, impact force, stress distribution and energy absorption behavior of the bumper beam. These characteristics are compared to each other to get the best material and design. Performing multiple iterations is quite an expensive method, hence the FEA method used in this study to get the best design. Hence for this paper study, Creo parametric 3.0 is used for design and Hyper-mesh 14 is used for simulation and analysis.
