Abstract

All those who work in schools recognise that bullying goes on. Generally, they feel powerless to deal adequately with the problem. Arora is an Educational Psychologist working in secondary schools, and she has led workshops on bullying for the last few years. Through her own observation in a secondary school where the issues were addressed, by reading the literature available, and from the ideas that have emerged from her workshops, Mrs Arora has concluded that some strategies appear to be effective in reducing bullying. Her article considers some of these and provides useful pointers for practice in schools when an incident of bullying comes to a teacher's attention.
