Abstract

Two bulky lithium m-terphenylamides are synthesized by smooth deprotonation of secondary terphenylamines with n-BuLi, which readily react with main group electrophiles (SiCl4, SiHCl3, Me3SiCl, PCl3) to afford para-substituted products. This report demonstrates an efficient methodology for the synthesis of bis- or multi-heteroatoms involved terphenyl systems.
