Abstract

In view of previous reports about the peculiar superconducting properties of the mercury chain compound Hg 3-δAsF 6, we have reinvestigated these properties as a function of pressure and also down to lower temperatures, using a d.c.-measuring technique. The most important result is the observation of a sharp superconducting transition at 0.3 K for p=10 kbar that shows a Meissner effect of about 50%. This proves for the first time that Hg 3-δAsF 6 is a bulk superconductor.
