Abstract

The properties and behaviour of the anion of oxygen (O 2 -) and hexa- fluorobenzene (C 6F 6 -) as determined from photodetachment experiments are investigated under the perspective of electron transport in the liquid phase. It is shown how information obtained from studying photodetachment of electrons from the anion formed in dilute solutions of O 2 and C 6F 6 in different nonpolar dielectric liquids can be used to rationalise ex- cess electron transport in the pure liquid phases of O 2 and C 6F 6.
