Abstract
The magnetic domains at the surface and in the volume of a 1 mm thick single crystal of Fe12.8 at%Si with (1 1 1) principal surfaces are analyzed experimentally after “freezing in” the domains as a precipitation pattern (Libovický method). The validity of a three-dimensional echelon model for domain refinement close to strongly misoriented iron surfaces is verified for the first time.
