Abstract

The Deutsche Zentralbibliothek fur Medizin (German National Library of Medicine) is the National Library and Service Institution for medical libraries and the scientific medical community in Germany. The library was founded in 1970 (with predecessors back to 1910); its holdings amount to more than 1.200.000 volumes including 9.000 current journals. The collections include all subject areas in medicine, dentistry, nursing, human psychology, hospital affairs, human genetics, molecular biology, biotechnology and other fringe areas. Since 2001, literature in the field of nutrition and environment is collected in a branch library in Bonn.
