Abstract

Rates of depression among LGBTQ youths are at least 3 times as high as rates among nonminority peers, and suicide rates are 4 times higher. In developing effective interventions for these higher-risk youths, clinicians must consider risk factors, including stigma, discrimination, and difficulty accessing care, facing the youths across various system levels. In this presentation, we empower clinicians to increase resilience among LGBTQ patients by addressing key risk factors and building protective factors across systems.
