Abstract

The energy consumption of buildings has become an issue of concern in recent years and a challenge for many researchers worldwide. One of the solutions to this problem is the optimal control of Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. According to our results, optimal control can save more than 34% of energy. In this paper, a model predictive control (MPC) that is able of considering weather and human factors has been deployed and compared to an ON-OFF controller. The MPC controller was able to optimize energy consumption, ensure maximum comfort and, above all, a good conservation of HVAC equipment through optimizing the system’s use.
