Abstract

AbstractThis chapter describes and documents anticipated areas of federal community college advocacy. Changes in Congressional behavior are described with specific illustrations of federal legislation, specifically the Higher Education Act. Discussion on the role of the college president and CEO in advocacy focuses on the role of the president and the necessity to be vocal in federal relations. The article offers anticipated issues community college leaders need to be aware of including federal student aid, outcomes and return‐on‐investment, workforce education, innovation and institutional regulation, and the role of community colleges in civic education and cultural awareness. The chapter serves as a capstone for the volume and call to action for community college federal advocacy.
