Abstract
The objective of this paper is to explore ways in which a Modern University can be built taking into account the benefits to its two main stakeholders – the faculty members and the students. The purpose is to lay down the mechanics of enhancing the teaching skills of the faculty members and the overall learning skills of the students. The work done thus far has discussed only one of the two aspects i.e., how to build a teaching university or a research university or teaching cum research university. In this paper, I wish to evaluate that mere integration of teaching and research is not sufficient and that there is a need for the universities to think beyond teaching and research to build a Modern University. I would discuss and defend my argument in the perspective of management education. This paper outlines a novel way of integrating the following areas: Teaching (T), Research (R), Industry partnership (I), Community development (C) and Knowledge sharing (K) and how this approach helps in building a Modern University
