Abstract

Before Earl “Torch” Morris moved to Hawaii to take the position of campus security director at Brigham Young University‐Hawaii, he worked in South and Central America battling drug and human trafficking, among other issues. He also served as a director of public security at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. But after more than 30 years in national and international law enforcement and security, Morris was ready for a change of pace. “We came here [to Hawaii] on vacation and my wife decided we were going to have a lifestyle change,” Morris said. In addition to taking on the position as the director of campus security at BYUH, Morris has also launched a criminal justice program at the university.
