Abstract

Could I find a new angle for the old geometry lesson? This thought cro sed my mind as I prepared to teach a geometry unit to my class of fifth and ixth graders. The more I pored through old copies of teaching magazines and books, the more I became convinced that to give my students some tangible evidence that geometry is alive today in various careers. I would have to create the experience I ought for them. As a result, J designed a week-long build-acity project to let my students become familiar with the history of the five Platonic solids and then use these solid to create a city.
