Abstract

Extracts prepared from the seeds of Albizia amara were found to demonstrate an interaction with DNA. On the basis of this interaction, six new spermine macrocyclic alkaloids, budmunchiamines D–I, were isolated. The structures of these substances were determined by spectral analysis and comparison with the related alkaloids, budmunchiamines A–C.
