Abstract

As part of university system, academic culture plays important role in efforts to develop culture, civil society, and nation as a whole. This article reports an empirical study on academic culture as experienced by Indonesian students in Australia and Canada. Academic culture is defined as academic activities outside the academic norm, implemented in seminars, discussions, and scientific publications. In higher education, academic culture must continually be nurtured and maintained. In fact, success and failure of education is depended on the quality of college’s academic culture.
