Abstract

This paper considers the buckling of vessels which are composed of a cylindrical shell closed by hemispherical shell end caps. Such structures have been considered for deep submergence research vehicles. Numerical results for the buckling loads are obtained and compared with experimental results from the Naval Ship Research and Development Center. It is seen that the comparison of theory and experiment is quite good.
