Abstract

I N an earlier Note,1 the method of collocation at the boundary was used to determine solutions for a uniformly loaded clamped or simply supported parabolic plate. Comparisons also were made with an upper bounding square plate and lower bounding triangular plate. In a similar manner it is possible to determine the critical buckling loads for uniform in-plane compression of parabolic and semi-elliptic plates. Considering the clamped or simply supported plates of Fig. 1, a solution of the buckling equation is given by
