Abstract

Abstract The author presents the results of a study made of two approximate methods available for determining the buckling load of compressed rectangular plates with built-in edges. One method gives values larger than the true buckling load, while the other method gives values smaller than this load, thus permitting an estimate of the approximation of the solution.
