Abstract

The paper presents the results of an experimental program into buckling, ultimate and post-ultimate behaviour of thin-walled cold-formed steel lipped channel members subjected to eccentric compression about minor axis. Tested specimens are subjected to compression with a wide range of both positive and negative eccentricities. Thus the evolution of the plastic mechanisms and the use of them to characterise the ultimate strength is examined by the experimental tests.
