Abstract

THE BRYGADOWE KOŁO MŁODYCH “POGOŃ” IN THE DOCUMENTS OF THE SECURITY APPARATUS OF THE POLISH PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC The Brygadowe Koło Młodych (Brigade Youth Club) “Pogoń”, founded in London by Zygmunt Czarnecki, was one of the most important military organizations in the Polish diaspora in Great Britain. Established after the Second World War in order to fight for the restoration of Polish independence, it anticipated the outbreak of the Third World War. Intelligence and counterintelligence operations concerning the “Pogoń” were conducted by the secret service of the Polish People’s Republic. In the archives of the Institute of National Remembrance there are documents revealing the nature of such operations from the mid-1950s to mid-1960s. The secret service was particularly interested in the leadership of the “Pogoń” and the organization’s most active members, especially those involved in training.
