Abstract

By utilizing the polarizabilities of a small chiral sphere embedded in a chiral medium, the Bruggeman model of a composite formed by randomly dispersing identical, electrically small, isotropic chiral spheres in an isotropic achiral host medium has been formulated. Numerical results show that the Bruggeman estimates of the effective properties of the composite differ significantly from the Maxwell-Garnett estimates for a sufficiently large chirality parameter of the inclusion spheres.
