Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to study higher-spin gauge fields in anti-de Sitter space, using BRST quantization of a certain mechanical system. Anti-de Sitter space is locally embedded in a flat space using second-class constraints. Appropriate first-class constraints are chosen and the BRST charge Q is constructed. Using this Q, a 〈 φ∣ Q∣ φ〉 theory can be constructed. It reproduces the correct wave equations for gauge fields in anti-de Sitter space.
