Abstract

The characteristics of late onset, non-infectious pulmonary complications (LONIPC) occurring after allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) are not well known and their descriptions are mainly based on retrospective studies. Bronchiolitis obliterans (BO), which is the most common, is defined according to the NIH criteria that include the presence of an obstructive ventilatory defect, signs of air trapping on lung CT scan or distention on pulmonary function testing and excluding the presence of a respiratory infection. The therapeutic management is poorly codified, with systemic corticosteroids probably deleterious. Several diffuse interstitial lung diseases may also occur, the main one being organizing pneumonia. They are classically steroid-responsive. They can be part of the clinical and biological picture of a systemic disease.
