Abstract
IN A RECENT report on the induction of cyst formation and consequent fibrosis in the pancreas<sup>1</sup>it was said that in the lungs various changes, such as hemorrhages and emphysema, occurred but squamous metaplasia or other bronchial changes were absent. Since the presentation of that study, several new series of similar experiments have been carried out and their results, together with those seen on reexamination of the original preparations, revealed data that made us revise this previous statement, especially since bronchial changes were also observed in animals in which the pancreatic lesion was provoked by deficient diets. <h3>MATERIAL AND METHODS</h3> Seventy-one male albino rats, ranging in weight from 160 to 190 Gm. were used. Thirty-five animals were fed a well balanced stock diet with a liberal supplement of water-soluble vitamins and cod liver oil with added vitamin A.
