Abstract

Currently, characterizing information propagation and social influence on online social networks is a hot issue. In this paper, in order to characterize them on microblog network-a kind of OSNs, the microblog network structure based on user behavior is defined. In this framework, two user characteristic indicators are first defined, which are Broadcast Power and Retweeting Power, then Propagation Power, another user characteristic indicator is defined through synthesizing the frontal two indicators. Furthermore, we characterize Preference, a structural relation indicator. These indicators which quantify user's retweeting behavior can be used not only for evaluating user's influence, but also for predicting the information propagation from different perspectives. Experiment result confirms the validity and operability of the definitions which provides fundamental support for information propagation and social influence research.
