Abstract

Coherent Different Radiation (CDR) produced by ultrashort electron beam is in THz region and has the characteristics of broadband, high peak power, and tunable frequency. CAEP free electron laser (FEL) beamline provides 54.167MHz electron beam bunches with picosecond longitudinal length, which are suitable to generate high repetition high average power THz CDR. In this paper, the characteristics of CDR generated from CAEP FEL electron beam bunches with finite target are analyzed through numerical calculations and particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations. The preliminary design of this CDR THz source is given and the main parameters are discussed.
