Abstract

A novel ground taper has been designed and then fabricated using a laser cutter. The taper is used to match the transition between a suspended microstrip line and a microstrip line. This transition is used in the design of a 25 GHz suspended patch antenna deposited onto a polyimide tape and yields an 18% fractional bandwidth.
