Abstract

This paper describes the design and simulation of a novel wide band microstrip antenna for circular polarization (CP) operation. The antenna is constituted of two stacked annular ring radiators, the lower one of which is directly fed by coaxial probe. Rectangular slots are inserted into both patches to excite two orthogonal resonant modes to generate CP electrical magnetic wave. Simulation results shows the antenna has a wide band characteristic, with its impedance bandwidth achieving 29.6% (VSWR<2) and the 3dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth covering about 270 megahertz .The proposed antenna can be widely used in various wireless communication systems.
