Abstract

AbstractThis article presents a D‐band (110–170 GHz) double ridge waveguide (WG) to standard rectangular WG transition with an E‐bend near the WG end. The transition incorporates metal ridge steps as impedance transformers, resulting in a compact total size of 3.53 mm × 1.95 mm × 1 mm. Fabricated using micro metal additive manufacturing with copper in a monolithic back‐to‐back configuration, the transition demonstrates a bandwidth of 50% (105–175 GHz) with an average insertion loss of 0.72 dB and return loss better than 15 dB, respectively. Measurement results align closely with simulation expectations, with deviations attributed to fabrication and assembly errors.
