Abstract

The paper extends the Wiener modeling approach to the microwave mixers operating in nonlinear regime across a broad-bandwidth, and presents its extraction from large-signal vector measurements. The mixer Wiener model assumes for its linear block the mixer conversion matrix, which characterizes the main mixing products (MPs), within an a priory defined broad-bandwidth. The model is capable of predicting the higher-order MPs about an arbitrary number of LO harmonics. This paper gives a detailed model analytical treatment, and its validation by using a commercial passive mixer that operates with a 3 GHz LO, an IF band of 10–1400 MHz. The independent experimental validation is achieved in both the single-tone large-signal regime and the envelope domain, the latter when driven by a 20 MHz OFDM signal at different power levels.
