Abstract

This paper presents the design of a broadband metasurface for X-band, which shows the properties of 90° polarization conversion for linearly polarized waves and asymmetric transmission for opposite incident directions. Three metallic layers spaced by two dielectric layers are employed in the design. It is verified by simulated results that linearly polarized wave at X-band can be converted into its orthogonal polarization after direction-dependent transmission through the presented structure. The polarization conversion ratio (PCR) almost reaches 100%. Strong asymmetric transmission effect for linearly polarized wave incident from opposite directions is also revealed with the asymmetric transmission coefficient larger than 0.8 from 8.5 to 11.6 GHz.
