Abstract

Two broadband dual-polarized cavity-backed slot (CBS) antennas are proposed: one with good impedance matching and the other with high isolation. Both CBS antennas are composed of two identical pairs of slots and two orthogonal microstrip feed lines. Due to the separated layers on which the feed lines are printed, good impedance matching and/or high isolation are obtained. Experimental results show that a bandwidth of 40% (1.7–2.57 GHz) is achieved for the CBS antenna with good impedance (return loss>15 dB) and a bandwidth of 46% (1.7–2.74 GHz) is obtained for the CBS antenna with isolation >40 dB.
