Abstract

ABSTRACTA novel broadband coplanar waveguide‐fed slot antenna with a parasitic element for WLAN and WiMax applications is proposed. The proposed antenna is composed of a crooked F‐shaped feed line and an inverted‐L strip in the right bottom corner of the square slot ground to achieve broadband characteristic. By using the inverted L‐shaped strip, antenna can achieve wide impedance bandwidth to cover desired frequency bands while maintaining compact size and simple configuration. The proposed antenna is fabricated and tested. The simulated and measured results show that the antenna has the fractional impedance bandwidth of more than 44% (2.4–6 GHz), which can cover both WLAN and WiMax bands. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
