Abstract

In this paper, a Ka-band circularly polarized dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) array antenna fed by substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) is presented. The $2 \times 2$ circularly polarized L-shaped DRA elements are employed as the radiating elements. The sequential rotation technique is introduced to realize wideband circular polarized characteristics. The proposed antenna structure is symmetric, low loss and compact. The simulated results show that the proposed $2 \times 2$ array has a 3-dB large axial ratio (AR) bandwidth of 15.8 % from 33.1 GHz to 38.8 GHz with an average CP gain of 8.5 dBi. Symmetric radiation pattern with low cross-polarization of 21 dB is obtained.
