Abstract

Finely divided inorganic fillers are used in the epoxide compounds to increase the hardness and wear resistance and to reduce the level of thermal deformations, and particularly to reduce the cost. The critical stress intensity coefficient for normal detachment KIC was less than a substantial factor than the critical stress intensity coefficient for antiplanar shearing KIIIC for all the materials. These data can be used to define filled composites for particular working conditions on the basis of cracking resistance.
