Later, Bronson3and Van der Hoeve and de Kleijn4called attention to the hereditary association of otosclerosis and labyrinthine disease with deafness in the affected families. The syndrome is usually transmitted by the female, though it may be transmitted by the male. A number of affected families has been reported; the articles by Bronson3and Key5are accompanied by extensive bibliographies.
