Abstract

This chapter completes the empirical part of the study by examining British and French mainstream media discourses on Turkey. It focuses on the British and French newspapers’ editorials about specific European summits which debate the issue of Turkey’s accession to the EU. Furthermore, in this chapter, I intend to reveal whether the British and French mainstream press’s commentary on the negotiations between Turkey and the EU lead to the identification, among Britain, France, Greece and the EU, and creation of an in-group of ‘Us’, while at the same time excluding Turkey as an ‘Other’.
