Abstract

Mobile devices have been widely used in our daily life. Smartphones and tablets are very popular among students and teachers. These devices are increasingly being brought into the teaching environment. Teachers and students expect to use their own devices to get teaching / learning resources and complete teaching / learning tasks. This is a challenge for the educators. Bring your own device (BYOD) is proposed as the new mode in education, and Existing works showed that BYOD can be used in education. However, BYOD based education needs more creative and flexible management and environment support. In this paper, we proposed the design and practice of using BYOD for the flip class in a primary school. BYOD was used to support the flip class, which had a significant influence on the teaching, learning and resource sharing. BYOD broke the time and place a restriction on teaching / learning. And BYOD could help to enhance the communication between teachers and students. The experiences showed that BYOD based flip class could be a beneficial mode in primary school.
