Abstract

AbstractImproving the light transmittance of a glass by only a few percent can have a tremendous effect on the quality of an optical system. The optical position and chemical composition of the glass, as well as the choice of raw materials and production principles, determine the absorption rate. This article provides an overview of how the technical demands of high‐end applications influence modern glass production.
