Abstract

Determination of total phosphorus by using the digestion methods of wet digestion, dry ashing and microwave heating at different temperatures (95 and 120°C) was studied. Microwave digestion of the secondary sludge and dairy manure yielded results comparable to those of the wet digestion method, which is commonly used in the waste water industry. Microwave digestion can be a rapid and reliable digestion method for total phosphorus determination.
