Abstract
Two overlapping studies were conducted with sexually abused girls referred to a university outpatient clinic for 6 sessions of psychoeducationally based individual counseling in which participants were alternately assigned to either male or female counselors. Ratings of videotaped segments of 21 girls' in-session behavior revealed no significant effect for sex of counselor, although a significant improvement was found in girls' participation in counseling across the 6 treatment sessions.
