Abstract

Recently, Industry 4.0 revolution has arisen and affected innovative warehouse development. It is demonstrated by integrating new advancements in Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), the Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud computing, the Internet of Services, Smart Factories, and Augmented Reality. The industry-required integration challenge concerns several procedures of the IoT: individuals, services, data, and things. This paper introduces a study to investigate the integration challenges in Industry 4.0 utilizing five integration levels: communication, connection, coordination, collaboration, and cooperation. Therefore, this paper shows a survey of Industry 4.0 current research from an integration perspective, categorized according to the integration levels versus the IoT function. This paper conducted a comprehensive study on all features and parameters of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), which monitor and optimize warehouse functions. Finally, the paper addresses the main challenges and research gaps to suggest future research for implementing Industry 4.0 in warehouses.
