Abstract

John C. Markowitz is known for his multiple publications focused on interpersonal psychotherapy, but Brief Supportive Psychotherapy: A Treatment Manual and Clinical Approach instead focuses on the topic of Brief Supportive Psychotherapy. In an age where it is often forgotten, Markowitz highlights how unique and important supportive psychotherapy is. The book is divided into 2 halves: Introduction, Formulation, and Structure, and Evidence and Case Examples. In his book, Markowitz expertly discusses the pitfalls often noted in brief supportive psychotherapy, as well as the building blocks of good psychotherapy.
