Abstract

Abstract Fixture design is manual process and requires heuristic knowledge and skill. As the product varieties increases and lifecycles of product shortens, different development approaches needs to be adapted for the survive in market. Computer aided fixture design has constituents in four areas like Setup planning, Fixture Planning, Unit Design and Verification. Different methodologies were developed for each of these area. In this paper, the authors integrate the different methodologies established in fixture design area. These methodologies are segmented in nature hence the effectiveness is not gained for fixture design. Hence the primary aim of this research work is to integrate the segmented methodologies into one integrated methodology for cohesive fixture design.
