Abstract

Summary Fortuitous recording was obtained during cinefluorography of massive distal esophageal contraction with increase in gastric herniation in a patient with a lower esophageal ring and dysphagia. As far as we can determine, esophageal contraction of such proportions has not previously been described. The cinefluorographic technique permitted recognition of the event and its analysis.
