Abstract

Recent work published by Dong and co-workers in Nature Chemistry addresses the long-standing "ortho-constraint" in Catellani-type reactions by employing a new class of bridgehead-modified norbornenes as the mediator. The previously unsuccessful ortho-unsubstituted aryl iodides are well tolerated in current reaction systems in that they deliver a wide range of mono ortho-C‒H-functionalized products with high efficiency.
