Abstract

A bridged ‘V’-shaped patch antenna has been designed and fabricated for dual-band communication. The dual-band operation is obtained by placing a bar connecting the two arms at the top of a ‘V’-shaped microstrip antenna. Comparison of the return loss performance of a single ‘V’-shaped antenna and the bridged ‘V’ antenna is carried out. Free space radiation pattern measurement is carried out for the bridged ‘V’-shaped antenna to ascertain the effect of the bridging on the far field pattern. The measured results of the bridged ‘V’-shaped antenna shows good performance of a dual-band operation with the potential of communicating in two different directions.
