Abstract

An account is given of the background to the Bridge House School for Deaf and Educationally Subnormal Boys. Retrospective studies show the frequency of the late diagnosis of deafness; the use of inappropriate tests for assessing the mental development of the boys; and some of the reasons for withdrawal or transfer of the pupils.
