Abstract

This paper attempts to raise among bridge designers the level of awareness regarding the appearance of bridges. Bridge aesthetics should be evaluated with respect to five specified vantage points, and bridges should be made to look beautiful from the most frequently used vantage points. Involvement in the design team of professionals who have background training in aesthetics, such as landscape architects, is advisable.
