Abstract
We discuss various theoretical (numerical and analytical) results for bremsstrahlung spectra from isolated ions and methods for their calculations. Particular attention is paid to screening of the nuclear charge by the remaining electrons and to the transition through ionic species from the neutral atom to the bare nucleus. A simple method for calculation of the general characteristics of bremsstrahlung from plasmas is discussed.
